Brian Eno Studies: Roger Eno and Brian Eno Mr Wroe Soundtrack Extracts
This is an assemblage of audio from a few scenes that featured music by Roger and Brian Eno, from "Leah's Story", the first episode of the BBC television series Mr Wroe's Virgins. Directed by Danny Boyle, the four-part series was originally broadcast in 1993 and not subsequently repeated or released on videotape or DVD, although it was included in the catalogue of the short-lived online BBC Store (2015-2017). The University assumes that it will reappear on BBC Four, iPlayer, or ITVX at some stage. The scenes included here were not consecutive in the episode, so students should not be concerned by their inability to follow the narrative. Video might have helped, but it triggered copyright algorithms.
On the strength of these extracts, the music would easily merit some kind of commercial release. But it appears there is not much interest from the composers: in the introduction to an interview in The Wire in April 2020, Philip Clark mentions the instructions given to interviewers: 'Questions about Apollo, the first album the Eno brothers worked on together, which was released in 1983, are admissible "as a smaller nebulous topic" - and as to other soundtrack albums like Dune and Mr Wroe's Virgins, "no thanks (unless you really must)".'

A short visit to Brian Eno's contribution to the Back To Earth exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery in London, which ran from 22 June to 18 September 2022. The video is topped and tailed with environmental sound which should not be attributed to Eno, as otherwise the photos would have been accompanied by silence which might have made students think their audio was not working. After a hard night's conducting at the orchestraface, Teodor Currentzis likes nothing better than to unwind in his Midnight Lounge, talking about music with musicians and exchanging musical choices. On 29 June 2019 his guest was Brian Eno; from their conversation, it seems the two became acquainted when Eno moved to live in St Petersburg in 1997. Someone on this thread referred to Budd as a "Savant", and I could not agree more - he really didn't know WTF he was doing most of the time! This is "LIVE" - and there are so many weak moments where there is no development of ANYTHING! And yet the host of the program, fawns all over this SLOP! It is his association with Eno that put him in the spotlight, and..."The Pearl" was the ONE album I can listen to in its entirety. He is certainly not an innovator! Satie was an Innovator, as was the Spaniard - Mompou. I think Harold Budd was a very lucky dude that Daniel Lanois, and Eno took notice. That minor 6th harmonic shift...Budd does this in almost every piece - Really? Thank God for real Pianist, such as Paul Bley, Keith Jarrett, and John Taylor! - and Composers like Ravel, Debussy, Charles Koechlin (his "Persian Hours" is much more deep, and explorative!), and Gavin Bryars. I will admit - Harold Budd is great to Sleep to!

Found out about Daniel through his work with Dylan and EmmyLou.... hi is atmospheric production was spell binding. Friday Night Lights Sonho Dorato, and some youtube videos of his concert from '89, (best, and most relaxed, grooves ever), Acadie...He's one of my favorites, now, along with Gordon Lightfoot..and from what I hear, he's one of the most humble, and nicest people on the planet.

What did Brian Eno think about Bowie performing in Israel in 1996 then? This was recorded not long after. Before anyone defends Bowie it wasn't a one off either, he was interviewed for Israeli TV several years later. He was very well read so he must have had an extensive knowledge of the appalling warcrimes the Israelis had and obviously still have against the Palestinians. So it boils down to one of two things, either he supported Israeli warcrimes, he was at least complicit as he also appeared in two TV adds, Pepsi and Evian both of which support Israel and donate millions to Israel or as long as he received a big fat payment for starring in these adds, TV appearances, Israeli concert, etc he didn't give a fuck about the suffering of Palastinians. 😡
